“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important.” –Bill Gates
The invention of technologies gradually transform our lives time after time. It has molded our society into a new form of living life with working with our daily tasks, communicating with other people and going through with the boundaries and distance, satisfying our needs and wants, and building our character and educating our mind. The advent of the variety of technologies become part and is now integrated in almost all of the system of today including of which is the curriculum. The pervasiveness of the technologies is inevitable. Indeed technologies are very helpful to us. It has become part of our system everyway. Undoubtedly, integration of technology in the teaching and learning process is a need that needs to be addressed. As a “would-be” 21st century teacher, it is important to be fully equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills not only in subject areas to be taught, but as well as having the effective communication skills, learning and innovation skills, life and career skills, and most importantly, information, media and technology skills to help meet and adapt to rapid and continuing technological changes, particularly in the thriving global information and communication (ICT) environment.
Technologies can be used in many ways in the field of education. The existence of it will help both the teacher and the students, it is just a matter of how technology is being used. It is still ‘the method that works is the best method’.
